There’s a rescue underway, even if you can’t see it happening. God’s plan for your financial freedom is already underway.
In 2018, the world was captivated by the saga of a boys’ soccer team that got trapped in a cave in Thailand. They were stuck for almost two weeks, living in complete darkness without knowing if they would ever be found.
Once rescue workers discovered the boys in the cave, it took over a week to get them out. During that time, people from all over the world sent resources and manpower to help.
Like those boys in the cave, you might feel stuck in dark financial circumstances without any way of escape. But fear not: God has all the world’s resources at His disposal. And He has dispatched them to rescue you.
We see a great illustration of God’s rescue plan in Deuteronomy 8. In this chapter, God is helping the people of Israel remember what He had done to rescue them from slavery. Here’s what He says about himself in verses 15 through 16, as well as verse 18:
Do not forget that he led you through the great and terrifying wilderness with its poisonous snakes and scorpions, where it was so hot and dry. He gave you water from the rock! He fed you with manna in the wilderness…. He is the one who gives you power to be successful.
Just like God had a rescue plan to bring the Israelites to physical freedom, He has a plan to bring you to financial freedom. And He will provide everything you need for the journey.
We’re going to unpack this passage to learn more about exactly how God promises to lead you to financial freedom. Understanding His plan will give you a lot of hope and confidence as you navigate the journey.

Now, back to the topic at hand:
In this passage from Deuteronomy, we see three key elements of God’s plan for your financial freedom. Let’s break them down.
1) God has a path for your freedom.
God led the Israelites out of slavery and through the difficult journey to the promised land. They didn’t have to find the way themselves; they just had to follow Him. Likewise, God wants to lead you to financial freedom. If you follow Him, you’ll reach that destination too.
2) God has provision for your food.
God provided for the Israelites miraculously, giving them water from a rock and manna from heaven. In the same way, He will provide for you. If you’re used to depending on debt to meet your needs, changing your habits may seem scary. But God won’t let you down.
3) God has prosperity for your future.
God didn’t just get the Israelites out of slavery — He brought them to a prosperous place and gave them tools for long-term success. That’s what He wants to do for you. At the end of this journey, you’ll find the life of blessing that God made you for.
No matter how dark your surroundings seem, you can be confident that your rescue is underway. And when you see it fulfilled, it’s going to be amazing.
